He has long argued that ResNets are Highway Nets with their gates held open, and that ResNet is under-credited relative to his lab's work. - The ResNet paper says Highway Nets showed no accuracy gains past about 100 layers; ResNet trained 152 layers on ImageNet and 1,202 on CIFAR-10.
