**Role:** Carbon-cycle modeller, Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), Bremerhaven.
- **Köhler et al. 2006**, "Deciphering δ¹³C of atmospheric CO₂ measured in ice cores", *Biogeosciences* 3:539–556 ([doi](https://doi.org/10.5194/bg-3-539-2006)). Cohler's paper cites it for the Law Dome intercept (−13.1‰, r² = 96%), but the paper concludes the opposite of Cohler: "the intercept found in the anthropogenic rise in Law Dome does not record the δ¹³C signal of the carbon released by anthropogenic activity to the atmosphere." A model forced only by human emissions reproduces it (−9.2‰ to −15.7‰) "Due to the non-negligible effect of a third reservoir, the ocean."
- **Köhler et al. 2018**, *Global and Planetary Change* 164:67–71 ([doi](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.gloplacha.2017.09.015)): a comment on Hermann Harde's 2017 model, which it calls "too simple, based on invalid assumptions", mixing up residence time and adjustment time.
