# Obsidian - PF2e - Creature Adjuster (Elite/Weak Templates) ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates.webp]] [Watch on YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB-PhqYvzTY) · 15:34 · Josh Plunkett · 2024-04-25 ## Outline ### 00:00 Intro - This follows Josh's earlier video on exporting content from **Foundry VTT** into Obsidian, which is how he got the PF2e monsters into his vault. - **00:30** He admits that a few weeks earlier he nearly gave up on Obsidian for monster and combat management. Foundry's one-click **Elite/Weak** template buttons were too convenient. - **01:00** The rules come from the **Monster Core** book. **Elite** adds +1 level, +2 AC, +2 to attacks/DCs and strike damage, plus extra HP from a table. **Weak** does the reverse. PF2e's tight maths makes these handy for tuning an encounter on the fly. - **02:00** He still didn't like running combat in Foundry, where you add tokens and track HP through them, so he wanted to stay in Obsidian. - **02:30** PF2e had become harder to support in Obsidian because the old data sources stopped updating after the Remaster. **MostTornBrain** has since stepped in with tools to move Foundry content into Obsidian, polishing **Fantasy Statblocks** support (originally by Javalent/"farling") and the **PF2e MD exporter**. - **03:30** The repo on GitHub is called **Monster Mash**, and the plugin has been renamed **PF2e Creature Adjuster** while it waits for Community Plugins approval. Until it's approved, you install it with BRAT. ### 04:25 Install - Settings → Community plugins → enable → Browse → **BRAT** (Beta Reviewers Auto-update Tester, by TfTHacker). Install, then enable. BRAT lets you install plugins that aren't (or won't be) in the official directory. - Click the BRAT ribbon icon → **Add a beta plugin for testing**, and paste the GitHub repository URL (github.com/MostTornBrain/monster-mash). ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates-t0335.webp]] - **06:00** Josh's install errors out only because it's already in his list. His usual advice: **read the README**. He's a third-party, downstream tutorial maker, and developers sometimes push several updates a day, so the official documentation is the source of truth. - The README describes it as a plugin for existing PF2e monster statblocks that creates a new note from the monster you're viewing, made Elite or Weak per the PF2e rules. ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates-t0600.webp]] ### 07:16 Apply a Template - Open the monster's note from your bestiary folder (his example is a **Serpentfolk**). Open the command palette, type "Elite", and run **PF2e Creature Adjuster: Elite monster upgrade**. A new Elite note is created. - Do the same with "weak" to create a Weak version, then open weak, normal and Elite side by side. - **08:30** Comparison: level 2 / 3 / 4, HP 45 / 60 / 75, knife +9 / +11 / +13, damage 1d6+4 / 1d6+6 / 1d6+8. Fangs scale the same way. ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates-t0840.webp]] - **09:00** Josh is impressed that it parses the ability text and updates the damage inside abilities too. The generated notes stay in the vault for reuse. ### 10:10 Use in an Adventure - In an imported adventure (**Rusthenge**, Kreed's Crossing), an encounter uses a **Hana's Hundred gremlin** and a **reefclaw**. You can't trigger the upgrade from the encounter block itself. - Link to the gremlin's note, open it, run Elite, then change the encounter to use **Elite** version. It then runs straight through the **Initiative Tracker** plugin, about a 10-second job. ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates-t1110.webp]] - **11:30** Josh usually builds balanced encounters ahead of time, but this is quick enough to do at the table. ### 11:47 Configure Hotkeys - Settings → **Hotkeys** → search "pf2e". Josh binds **Alt+Q** to Elite upgrade and **Alt+W** to Weak upgrade. - He demos them on an **Adamantine Golem** from his bestiary. You have to run them from the original note. ![[images/Obsidian-PF2e-Creature-Adjuster-Elite-Weak-Templates-t1215.webp]] ### 13:06 Outro - For Josh this fixes the last gap that bothered him about running PF2e combat in Obsidian. He thanks MostTornBrain. - He'll add the plugin to obsidianttrpgtutorials.com and reminds viewers that it's up to you how deep down the rabbit hole you go ("you can create computer games with it", which he doesn't recommend). - **14:30** He celebrates reaching about a million YouTube views, thanks his Patreon supporters, and points people to the Obsidian TTRPG Community Discord for help. ## Things Mentioned ### Obsidian plugins - **PF2e Creature Adjuster** (MostTornBrain; repo [monster-mash](https://github.com/MostTornBrain/monster-mash)): Elite/Weak upgrade commands for PF2e statblock notes.
