> Written from the video's full English automatic captions (en track via yt-dlp, android player client; en-orig hit a 429 after en succeeded). The YouTube description adds an important warning: **Foundry version 11 broke this process** — the Import Foundry plugin developer was aware and looking for a resolution at upload/description time. Textual tutorial: [obsidianttrpgtutorials.com Pathfinder 2e page](https://obsidianttrpgtutorials.com/Obsidian+TTRPG+Tutorials/Community+Supported+Games/Pathfinder+2e/Pathfinder+2e). Topic tagged Archive (Out of Date) for that reason.
## Outline
### 00:00 Intro — why Paizo adventures are different
- Welcome back to Obsidian for tabletop RPGs. Tonight: getting **Pathfinder 2e** adventures, modules, and Adventure Paths into **Obsidian.md** so you can customize them.
- Paizo gives the **rules** away for free (community sites cover spells, feats, and so on), but they make money on **adventures**. You cannot download an Adventure Path from community mirrors without breaking terms.
- Good news: there is a supported path. Josh praises Paizo's community/data support and nudges 5e players to look at PF2e.
### 01:13 Buy the Foundry VTT bundle on Paizo.com
- On Paizo's site he opens **Pathfinder Adventure Path: Abomination Vaults (Foundry VTT) Bundle**.
- List price shown around **$59.99 / $60**. If you already own the PDF, that is your digital license — follow the owned-PDF link and the Foundry pack drops to about **$21**.
- $21 is cheap versus hand-entering a full AP. He has already purchased it, downloaded the activation code, logged into his **Foundry** account, and activated the content.

### 02:48 Install owned Paizo modules in Foundry
- Open Foundry VTT → **Add-on Modules** → **Install Module**. Searching **Paizo** lists official premium content; his owned **Abomination Vaults** pack appears and can be installed (large download; may take a few minutes).
- While it installs he notes other official packs in the list and mentions an alternate route: the **PDF to Foundry** importer can suck in an official Paizo PDF and create Foundry content (promised for a later video).

### 05:01 Launch the PF2e world and activate the module
- Create or open a **Pathfinder 2e** game world (he already has one). Join as GM.
- This world exists mainly for **data entry**, not play. **Game Settings → Manage Modules** → activate **Abomination Vaults**.
- After apply, the module surfaces creatures, hazards, treasure, journals, and an **Adventure** pack — the journal content he wants in Obsidian.

### 06:41 Install Import Foundry VTT Journal Entries in Obsidian
- In Obsidian: **Settings → Community plugins → Browse**, search **Foundry**, install and enable **Import Foundry VTT Journal Entries** by **filing42**.
- Enable the ribbon icon (magnifying glass). The importer asks you to choose a **journal.db** (UI may also say journal.json depending on version) and a parent folder (he uses **FoundryImport**), with an option to create **Folder Notes**.

*Import Foundry plugin "Choose File" dialog: parent folder FoundryImport, Create Folder Notes checkbox, Import button.*
### 07:23 Locate journal.db and run the import
- Easiest path: Foundry **Settings → Return to Setup → Configuration**, copy the **User Data Path**.
- In the file picker: `Data/worlds/<your-pf2e-world>/data/journal.db` (his world folder is the Pathfinder 2e one, not his 5e "DDI"/"Deadly Depth Inn" world).
- Import into **FoundryImport** with folder notes. Progress: creating folders, transferring images, then journal files — roughly **five or six minutes** for Abomination Vaults.
### 09:30 Results and cleanup in Obsidian
- Import finished. Expanding **FoundryImport** shows **Abomination Vaults** (plus other adventures he had tried) as markdown notes.
- Common cleanup: Foundry/Obsidian wikilinks that use `|` for display text break markdown tables — **escape the pipe** (`\|`) so rename syntax works.
- Flat checks and other mechanics are readable; some embeds need a **Reload app** to render. Resize oversized ITS-theme images; fix external links; optionally reorganize chapters into a cleaner folder tree.

### 12:36 Prep the module for play
- As he preps each chapter he would: add **Initiative Tracker** encounter blocks, drop in a **Dataview** query that lists monsters used in the chapter, and do general cleanup.
- Recap: buy Paizo Foundry content → install in Foundry (no other Foundry work) → Obsidian **Import Foundry VTT Journal Entries** pulls journals straight across.
- Alternate chain: buy PDFs → **PDF to Foundry** importer → same Obsidian plugin. Foundry becomes a **data-entry tool**, not only a VTT.
### 13:47 Credits and outro
- Huge thanks to **filing42** (long-time community member; support him with coffees — he builds great little tools).

## Bios
- **Josh Plunkett**: Australian GM and educator behind Obsidian TTRPG Tutorials (YouTube, obsidianttrpgtutorials.com, Patreon). Here he treats Foundry as a bridge to get owned Paizo adventures into Obsidian for prep (encounter blocks, Dataview, cleanup), not as the play surface.
- **filing42**: Long-time Obsidian TTRPG community member and author of the **Import Foundry VTT Journal Entries** plugin. Josh credits him for making the Foundry→Obsidian journal pull possible and encourages supporting his work.
- **Paizo Inc.**: Publisher of Pathfinder (and Starfinder). Free rules / community data culture; revenue from adventures and official Foundry premium modules. Website UX gets a playful roast ("built in the 1960s") but the PDF-as-digital-license pricing is praised.
- **AidenLX**: Author of the **Folder Notes** plugin referenced by the importer's "Create Folder Notes" option (not shown on camera beyond the checkbox).
