## Detailed outline
### [0:00] Insta360 Luna Ultra vs X6
- The two cameras are very different, but both suit vlogging and family or vacation footage, and they cost about the same. The video covers the key differences, then longer comparison clips, then who should buy which camera.
### [0:44] The main differences
- **The Luna Ultra shoots conventional flat video; the X6 is a 360 camera.** The X6 has two ultra-wide lenses whose footage is stitched together. You can look around freely, pick the framing in post, and the selfie stick disappears from the shot.
- **Reframing has a downside.** The footage still needs editing, which Auto Edit and AI Director try to automate, and the crop means reframed exports are about 2.7K, not 4K.
- **Single Lens Mode on the X6** records flat 4K at up to 120 fps without reframing.
![[images/Insta360 X6 vs Luna Ultra Make the Right Choice-t0105.webp]]
- **The Luna Ultra has two cameras on a physical gimbal:** a wide lens with a 1" sensor and a 60 mm zoom lens. Physical stabilization allows slow shutter speeds and stable footage in low light.
- **The Luna Ultra is not an action camera** and is not waterproof. The X6 is waterproof to 20 m without a case, has a rugged body that mounts on a helmet or chest, and has replaceable lenses.
### [3:06] Image quality comparison
- **Field of view.** The Luna's 20 mm main lens is wide, but the X6 is far wider. That is great for action shots and for showing yourself in the landscape, but it distorts close-ups of people. A magnetic **ultra-wide add-on lens** for the Luna widens its view a little.

- **Focal-length flexibility.** The Luna has a 60 mm lens (3x) for portraits, a lossless 2x crop on both lenses (up to 120 mm), up to 12x zoom, and 8K recording with no reframing needed.
- **Focus.** The X6 has fixed focus at infinity, so everything is sharp and there are no autofocus problems in fast action. The Luna has a strong autofocus and, with its 1" sensor and F1.8 aperture, a soft cinematic background blur. It can also shoot macro-like close-ups.
![[images/Insta360 X6 vs Luna Ultra Make the Right Choice-t0600.webp]]
- Both cameras record 10-bit **I-LOG** and **Dolby Vision HDR**. He sees them as complementary: the X6 is an outstanding action camera, and the Luna is built for image quality.
### [7:23] Low light
- The X6 is very good for a 360 camera, and the gap is small with artificial light or at dusk. In very dark scenes, the Luna's large sensor and gimbal give it a clear edge because it can use slower shutter speeds.
### [7:57] Gimbal: stabilization & tracking
- In good light, the X6's electronic stabilization beats even the best gimbal, helped by its extremely wide field of view.
- **X6 InstaFrame mode** simulates a gimbal (Follow, FPV and similar modes) and records a flat clip.
- **Luna Ultra subject tracking.** Set the camera down and it follows you automatically. Its **detachable screen works as a remote** with a live view, so you can start and stop recording and change settings from a distance. He calls this one of its best features and demos it on a **Throwpod**, which he names one of the best accessories for both cameras.

- The X6 can track you in two ways: shoot 360 and track in post, or use InstaFrame tracking for a ready-made flat 4K clip. It also works with remotes and smartphone control.
- **Features only the X6 has:** Voice Control, Gesture Control, and the new AI Director, which builds a daily vlog from the day's best shots while the camera charges.
### [10:19] Photo quality
- The Luna takes better portrait photos and close-ups with background blur.
- The X6 takes excellent 360 photos of up to 120 MP for virtual tours. The Luna can also make 360 photos by shooting in all directions and stitching them, though more slowly.
- **3D Spatial Capture on the X6** turns a 360 shot into a walkable 3D model for virtual tours. It is not yet available in the US.
### [11:35] Price & which should you buy?
- **Prices:** Luna Ultra $770 / €730; X6 $699 / €699.
- **Free gifts through his links (time-limited):** a Dual Lens (replacement) Kit with the X6, and a Throwpod with the Luna Ultra (the description currently lists a free carry bag).
- **Verdict.** Choose the **X6** for sports, frequent travel, a rugged waterproof body, vlogging, the ultra-wide look, and creative shots. He calls it one of the best cameras you can buy. Choose the **Luna Ultra** for a higher-end cinematic look, flexible focal lengths, vlogging, or as the main camera for talking-head YouTube videos. Having both is ideal.
