Written from the creator's English subtitles and chapters. Insta360 provided many of the accessories and sponsored the video; Werner says he only recommends accessories he personally finds useful. ## Outline - **0:00 – Intro (chapter "The 10 Best Mounts & Accessories for the X4").** Different shots need different mounts. Werner has tested all the important X4 mounts and ranks his 10 favourites in reverse order, thanking Insta360 for the test accessories and for sponsoring the video. First come five accessories he thinks every X4 user should get as basic equipment. - **0:38 – Five must-have accessories (chapter "5 Must Have Accessories").** The basic kit before the countdown. - **0:45 – The best selfie stick (chapter "The Best Selfie Stick for the X4").** His standard pick is the **114 cm invisible selfie stick**: long enough when extended, very small when folded, well made, with a thread on the underside for attaching it to a tripod or other mounts. It also comes in an **85 cm** version and in gold as well as black; he'd choose the black 114 cm one. Links to everything shown are in the description. - **1:23 – Lens guards vs lens cap (chapter "Lens Guards vs Lens Cap").** For action use you need to protect the weak points, the display and the protruding lenses. The X4 ships with a protective pouch and **standard lens guards**, which he rarely uses; there are also **premium glass lens guards**. Depending on the light, both can cause reflections and hurt image quality, so he usually protects the lenses with a **rubber lens cap**, which of course doesn't help while shooting. ![[images/Insta360 X4 The BEST Mounts and Accessories-t0150.webp]] - **2:01 – Screen protector (chapter "Screen Protector").** Because the X4's display is relatively large, he recommends a **screen protector**. - **2:09 – Carry case (chapter "Carry Case for the X4").** Insta360's **carry case** is well made and holds the X4 with the most important accessories. Its only drawback is that the standard stick is a little too long; only the small stick fits. - **2:32 – The best SD card (chapter "The Best SD-Card for the X4").** For 8K you need at least a **UHS-I, V30 microSD card**. He has used Insta360's own cards almost exclusively in the X4 and X3 with no problems. - **2:59 – No. 10: 3 m Extended Edition Selfie Stick (chapter "3M Extended Edition Selfie Stick").** At 3 m, the longest selfie stick Insta360 sells, good for unusual, creative shots: moving the camera through a car or a window, or simulating drone shots. Insta360 sells two 3 m sticks; the second is much longer when collapsed but narrower, lighter and easier to hold. He'd still choose the thicker **Extended Edition** because it stores more easily and its length is adjustable, while the thinner one only works fully extended. It's bulky and the handle sometimes shows slightly, but some of his best shots were taken with it. - **3:56 – No. 9: Tripod and selfie stick (chapter "Tripod & Selfie Stick").** For filming yourself or time-lapses, a tripod built into the stick you carry anyway is handy. Option one is a **tripod base** fixed permanently to your selfie stick (which also lengthens it); option two is a stick with an integrated tripod such as the **2-in-1 Invisible Selfie Stick + Tripod**. He prefers the first: that tripod is much more stable, and the 2-in-1 stick has no thread on the underside for other mounts. - **4:43 – No. 8: GPS Preview Remote (chapter "GPS Preview Remote").** On mounts like the 3 m pole you can't see or operate the camera, and a phone is cumbersome, especially for action shots. The **GPS Preview Remote** connects automatically when switched on, can be worn on the wrist like a watch or attached to a selfie stick, shows a live preview and lets you change key settings on its touchscreen. It also records GPS data so you can show speed or route in your footage. By usefulness it would rank higher; it's just a little expensive. ![[images/Insta360 X4 The BEST Mounts and Accessories-t0510.webp]] - **5:33 – No. 7: Mic Adapter and Utility Frame (chapter "X4 Mic Adapter & Utility Frame").** The X4's audio is fine for action, but for vlogging or a lot of speech use an external mic. He uses the **DJI Mic 2**, which can connect to the X4 over Bluetooth with no adapter, but the **X4 Mic Adapter** gives better audio and a more stable connection with any external mic. It plugs into the USB-C port and the receiver connects by cable. He mounts the receiver on Insta360's **Utility Frame**, which has several accessory mounting points, its own lens cap, a GoPro mount underneath and extra protection, at the cost of a little weight. - **6:26 – No. 6: Third-Person Backpack Mount (chapter "Third-Person Backpack Mount").** Perhaps his favourite X3 mount: a carbon-fibre pole attached to a backpack lets you film yourself from behind hands-free. It's useful and easy to stow, but a little cumbersome to attach, and he has mostly replaced it with a mount shown later. Still an absolute recommendation. - **7:00 – No. 5: Invisible Dive Case (chapter "Invisible Dive Case").** His first underwater 360 footage was unusable because lens stitching doesn't work underwater, due to the angle at which light enters. For underwater 360 with the invisible-selfie-stick effect, rather than single-lens video, you need the **Invisible Dive Case**, which corrects that angle. Living in the mountains, he hasn't tested the X4 version yet and shows X3 underwater shots instead. - **7:37 – Selfie stick wrist strap (chapter "Selfie Stick Wrist Strap").** The dive case doesn't float, so attach Insta360's **wrist strap**, which fits the underside of any Insta360 selfie stick, to avoid losing the X4 underwater. - **7:54 – No. 4: Ski Pole Mount (chapter "Ski Pole Mount").** He often mounts the X4 with a selfie stick on a ski pole to film himself from the front while skiing. Last year he used the **Claw Mount**, which worked but wasn't always stable, so he was glad when Insta360 released the **Ski Pole Mount**: small, well made and much more stable. It also works on other bars and poles. - **8:24 – Tip: Action Invisible Selfie Stick (chapter "Action Invisible Selfie Stick").** On rigid mounts like the ski pole mount, the base of the pole takes strong vibrations and forces, and a normal selfie stick will eventually be damaged. The carbon-fibre **Action Invisible Selfie Stick** is much sturdier, with a reinforced thread, and is the one to use on ski poles, motorbikes or bikes. - **9:01 – No. 3: Bike Kit (chapter "Bike Kit").** Ranked high because it's versatile and not just for bikers. It includes a high-quality **Chest Mount** and a **Handlebar Mount**, both usable with other action cameras such as the Ace Pro. A chest mount isn't a typical 360 mount, but he recommends one to every action-camera owner for biking, skiing or even a rollercoaster. The handlebar mount attaches the X4 quickly to all kinds of poles, but unlike the ski pole mount it isn't strong enough for extensions. ![[images/Insta360 X4 The BEST Mounts and Accessories-t0915.webp]] - **9:47 – Third-Person Bike Handlebar Mount (chapter "Third-Person Bike Handlebar Mount").** Compared with the simple handlebar mount in the bike bundle, this one has two fastening screws, so it sits more securely and can take a **Carbon Fibre Extension Pole**. - **10:04 – Third-Person Bike Tail Mount (chapter "Third-Person Bike Tail Mount").** Attaches to the seat post, with the X4 on a selfie stick; use the Action Invisible Selfie Stick here too. Because of vibration, these last two mounts are only suitable for road riding. - **10:20 – Bike Headset Cap Mount (chapter "Bike Headset Cap Mount").** The most stable bike option: it's screwed permanently to the bike, secure enough to carry a pole, and a must-have for bikers who film themselves from the front. - **10:49 – Honourable mention: Quick Reader (chapter "Quick Reader").** Before the top two, a few accessories that matter less to him but may matter to you. If you edit mostly on your phone, the X4 **Quick Reader** has Lightning and USB-C connectors and takes a microSD card, acting like external storage on the X4 to add capacity. Taken off, it plugs straight into your phone so the Insta360 app reads the videos, much faster than wireless transfer. - **11:16 – Quick Release Mount (chapter "Quick Release Mount").** Screws onto a mount and uses a push mechanism to remove and remount the camera quickly. It's metal, high quality, with a tripod thread and a GoPro mount underneath; it would be better with more than one base in the box for switching between mounts. - **11:39 – Bullet Time Accessory (chapter "Bullet Time Accessory").** The X4 has its own **Bullet Time** mode: swing the camera in a circle over your head and a slow-motion clip is created automatically. Insta360's **Bullet Time Accessory** is a handle and mini tripod with a side-mounted selfie stick that rotates on its axis once the lock is opened; it's also sold bundled with the standard stick. - **12:17 – Bullet Time Cord (chapter "Bullet Time Cord").** A much smaller alternative with an extendable cord for swinging the X4. If you like the effect, get one of the two; he'd choose the handle, since it also works as a mini tripod and selfie-stick extension. - **12:34 – No. 2: Back Bar Mount (chapter "Back Bar Mount").** Many of his best X4 shots came from this **waist-strap mount** holding the X4 on a pole, so you can film yourself from behind hands-free while skiing or biking; no other mount has prompted so many "how did you get that shot" questions. It fastens quickly and securely, so it has mostly replaced his backpack mount. Start and stop recording with a hand gesture, voice command, your phone or the remote. There's an original and a much better-made **enhanced waist strap**; pair it with the Action Invisible Selfie Stick. It misses first place only because it looks a little strange in use and is bulky to stow. ![[images/Insta360 X4 The BEST Mounts and Accessories-t1245.webp]] - **13:35 – No. 1: Heavy Duty Clamp (chapter "Heavy Duty Clamp").** A special but extremely flexible mount that attaches the X4 to poles of different sizes, such as a ski pole or bike handlebars. It's extremely stable, comes with a wrench for a secure fit, and can carry an extension pole so you can film yourself in all kinds of situations. It's also small, handy, easy to stow and not too expensive: in his words, the perfect mount. ![[images/Insta360 X4 The BEST Mounts and Accessories-t1345.webp]] - **14:07 – Outro.** Links to all the mounts are in the description. For the X4's many hidden features he points to his X4 tutorial, asks for a like, and promises more X4 videos and tutorials. ## Things mentioned ### Cameras - Insta360 X4 (the camera all the accessories are for) - Insta360 X3 (his previous 360 camera; underwater footage shown) - Insta360 Ace Pro (also works with the Bike Kit mounts) ### Basic accessories - 114 cm Invisible Selfie Stick (also 85 cm, and in black or gold) - Standard lens guards (included) and Premium (glass) Lens Guards - Rubber lens cap - Screen protector - Insta360 carry case - Fast microSD card (UHS-I, V30 or better for 8K); Insta360-branded microSD cards ### Top 10 mounts and accessories (his ranking) 1.
