Engelbart (January 30, 1925 – July 2, 2013) set himself the goal in 1951 of using computers to raise the human ability to deal with complex, urgent problems. He wrote the 1962 report *Augmenting Human Intellect: A Conceptual Framework*, led SRI’s Augmentation Research Center, and on December 9, 1968 showed NLS, a mouse, linked documents, shared screens and video conferencing in what is now called the Mother of All Demos. ## In this folder - [[Doug Engelbart - Biography]]: life, ideas, honors and a table of where sources disagree. - [[Doug Engelbart - Bibliography]]: 45 papers, reports and talks (1959–2004), each with a PDF in [papers/](papers/) and a stable source link, and a list of works I could not get free. - [[Doug Engelbart - The Mother of All Demos 1968]]: the three-part remastered film (100 minutes) with timestamped outline, screenshots and a claims check. ## Related videos - [[AI Has Been Developing for Centuries - Douglas Engelbarts 1962 Paper]]: Jake Van Clief reads the 1962 paper alongside today’s AI.
