# Virtual Reality Kiosk ## Energy 2017 Communication Design Student Show ### The Arts Gallery at the Spring Creek (Plano) Campus Collin College As part of the graphic design, web design, video production, and animation showcase, the video kiosk shows the work of students and professors. The show had a theme of CMYK for the print graphic design roots of the department, which had expanded into many different fields. The gallery pillars were painted in cyan, magenta, and yellow, with similar-colored tape to mark the walls and blue painter tape to section the floor. ![[20170509_153407.jpg]] The ***Virtual Reality Kiosk*** corner of the *Energy 2017 Communication Design Student Show* A corner of The Arts Gallery was devoted to a virtual reality (VR) space marked out for optimal participation. The hardware included an Oculus headset, external sensors (mounted on stands on the left and right), touch controllers, a PC with nVidia graphics card, an observation camera, and two monitors. The PC and its keyboard were placed behind the presentation podium so that the interface invited use of the Oculus virtual reality headset. Unity was running on one monitor, and the view through the headset was seen on the second monitor, so that onlookers can see what the VR visitor wearing the headset could see from their point of view. The installation was monitored via the observation camera, with a recorded video including the Comm Design department logo, an inset of both monitors that showed the Unity game engine changing and loading scenes, and the view from the Oculus VR headset. Visitor interactions with the experiences provided insight to the professor and students on the effectiveness of interactable objects that visitors can grab, curved interfaces for selecting experiences, and the engagement of the visitors with the story of each scene. ![[20170427_174848.jpg]] **Sydney Sbabaro** in the ***Oculus Headset*** visiting the first level of **Quietus** ![[2017-04-25 14_38_44-Greenshot.jpg]] The Lobby of the Virtual Reality Kiosk experience, leading to each place to visit. ## Waverista Serve customers who use hand signals to order.
