What happens when a state is captured by virtue-signaling over actual, practical electric grid design and implementation? You get exactly what we are seeing in New York State right now. The Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) had to "pause" a solar commercial complex in the Adirondack Park today because the local grid is already too constrained to make Foothills Solar work. The 2019 Climate Act was created around an idea that we're all going to die from a climate catastrophe by 2030 if we don't switch to solar and wind power. Not one politician behind the 2019 Climate Act was even remotely qualified to pass a piece of legislation that has attempted restructure our entire grid. That's why the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) has warned we could have grid failures this summer in New York. Since the 2019 Climate Act, the climate extremists have taken nuclear plants offline, attacked natural gas and other fossil fuels, and convinced the public that they were doing "right by the environment" by prioritizing commercial solar... you know, a form of energy that only converts at 15% of its annual potential in Upstate New York. We're now faced with a situation where these "green" projects can't actually tie into the Upstate New York grid. Yet developers proceeded with acquiring the final permit and going through the process of crushing local town laws anyway. Why? Money. Once a final permit is awarded via ORES, the developer, many times, sells the LLC/permit and moves on to the next poor country town. The project becomes a sellable asset. They have YEARS until the permit expires. And now they have prime farmland, grasslands, and wetlands locked into 30+ year leases. The farmer will never get that land back. The developers knew the grid wasn't accessible for their solar projects. They proceeded anyway. This has never, ever been about fixing our grid.
