# Week 13 — Friday, November 20 ## Appointments · Timed Dry Run **Your group hour. Lab open the full block.** **The last meeting before the final.** --- ## Due today **Presentation script** — bring it, and be ready to present from it. --- ## What happens You present your portfolio to me, **timed**, exactly as you will on Dec 4. I hold the clock and I don't stop you when you run over — I just tell you afterward where you were when the time ran out. It's usually somewhere around piece four, with your two best pieces still unseen. Then we fix it. --- ## The structure to present from For each piece, four beats: 1. What the goal was 2. What constraint you worked under 3. **One decision you'd defend** 4. One thing you'd change now **Narrate the decision, not the process.** The instinct is to walk through how you made it, chronologically. Nobody wants that. **Rehearse each piece at two lengths — three minutes and forty-five seconds.** In the real world you won't know which you get. **Never apologize for a piece while showing it.** If it needs an apology it shouldn't be in the set. --- ## Bring - The script - Site live and showcase piece playing — **plus an offline copy** - A watch or timer, so you can rehearse on your own afterward --- ## From today, you are review-ready Whenever the department lands the **December Portfolio Review** — likely at Wylie — you should be able to walk in and present with no further preparation. That's why this week exists. For the review, bring: the offline file, a device that works without wifi, something to write on, and **one specific question**. "Where does this fall short of the bar for a junior on your team?" is a good question. "What do you think?" is not. It's a read of your work by someone with taste. It is **not** a job interview. Go to collect notes, not approval. --- ## ⚠ Week 14 — no class Campus is closed **Nov 25–29** for Thanksgiving. The next meeting is **Friday, December 4** — the final. Whatever you're telling yourself you'll finish over the break: budget half of it, at most. This is true every single year. --- ## Due Week 15 — Friday, December 4 | | |---| | **Website — final** | | **Showcase piece — final** | | **90-Day Plan** | | **Networking Log** | | **Final Portfolio Presentation** (in class) | | Community Involvement extra credit, if you're submitting it |
