# ARTV 2335 — Canvas Page Package ### Fall 2026 · Frisco Campus · Build guide and index Everything here is markdown, ready to paste into Canvas pages. Tables, headings, and blockquotes all convert cleanly through Canvas's rich content editor or any markdown-to-HTML step. --- ## What's in the package ``` canvas/ ├── 00_START_HERE.md ← you are here ├── course-home-page.md ← draft Canvas home page ├── weekly/ 16 pages (weeks 1–16) ├── assignments/ 17 pages (attendance + 15 graded items + extra credit) └── reference/ ├── glossary.md └── dfw-industry-map.md ``` --- ## Suggested Canvas structure **Modules, one per week**, each containing that week's page plus whatever is due. Weeks 14 and 16 get short pages so the module list stays continuous and nobody wonders whether they missed something. Two standing modules pinned above the weeks: - **Start Here** — home page, syllabus, grade sheet, appointment groups - **Reference** — glossary, DFW industry map, appointment protocol --- ## Setup checklist, before the semester opens - [ ] Create **self-signup groups A / B / C / D**, capped at roughly a quarter of the section. Rename A–D to actual clock times once the block is confirmed. - [ ] Open sign-ups Week 1; **lock after Week 2**. - [ ] Create an **Appointment Swaps** discussion — the standing swap rule points at it. - [ ] Create a **Carpool to Wylie** discussion for the December Portfolio Review. - [ ] Set due dates (all Fridays): | Assignment | Due | Points | |---|---|---:| | Portfolio Inventory & Triage | Sep 4 | 5 | | Portfolio Plan & Production Schedule | Sep 11 | 5 | | Platform live *(cadence checked Wk 5, 9, 12)* | Sep 11 | 5 | | Apply for Graduation | Sep 18 | — | | Resume — first draft | Oct 9 | 5 | | Professional Identity Kit | Oct 16 | 5 | | Website — Concept & Design | Oct 30 | 5 | | Resume — final + tailored variant | Nov 6 | 5 | | Website — first draft (content) | Nov 6 | 5 | | Showcase piece — plan / rough cut | Nov 13 | 5 | | Website — final | Dec 4 | 5 | | Showcase piece — final | Dec 4 | 5 | | Networking Log | Dec 4 | 5 | | 90-Day Plan | Dec 4 | 5 | | Final Portfolio Presentation | Dec 4 | 25 | | Attendance & appointment engagement | *midterm + final* | 10 | | **Total** | | **100** | | Community Involvement (extra credit) | Dec 4 | +5 | - [ ] **Apply for Graduation** as a 0-point "complete/incomplete" item, tied to Week 4 attendance credit. Deliberately not worth points — points can be traded away, and a student willing to lose five points will lose five points and not graduate. - [ ] Post Guest Speaker Series dates in **Announcements** as the department fixes them, with at least two weeks' notice. - [ ] **Contact A Bunch of Short Guys about Industry Giants student codes.** Sat Oct 3 at UTD; UTD routes student discounts through faculty, and Collin College is already a listed ABOSG sponsor. Worth asking whether a Collin block or code exists. Post the answer in Announcements by **Week 5 (Sep 25)** so students can buy before prices step up. - [ ] **Follow ABOSG on Humanitix** to catch fall **Industry Insights** dates; post any September/October session in Announcements — it's a free Saturday alternative for students who can't do a weeknight drive to Wylie. --- ## Page index ### Weekly | Week | Date | Type | Page | |---|---|---|---| | 1 | Aug 28 | ● Full class — **Locate** | `weekly/week-01.md` | | 2 | Sep 4 | ○ Triage conference | `weekly/week-02.md` | | 3 | Sep 11 | ○ Production planning | `weekly/week-03.md` | | 4 | Sep 18 | ○ WIP · graduation check | `weekly/week-04.md` | | 5 | Sep 25 | ○ First placement | `weekly/week-05.md` | | 6 | Oct 2 | ● Full class — **Be read** | `weekly/week-06.md` | | 7 | Oct 9 | ○ Resume line edit | `weekly/week-07.md` | | 8 | Oct 16 | ○ Target list | `weekly/week-08.md` | | 9 | Oct 23 | ○ WIP · website audit | `weekly/week-09.md` | | 10 | Oct 30 | ● Full class — **Be found** · *last day to withdraw* | `weekly/week-10.md` | | 11 | Nov 6 | ○ Resume sign-off · website build | `weekly/week-11.md` | | 12 | Nov 13 | ○ Showcase cut · networking check | `weekly/week-12.md` | | 13 | Nov 20 | ○ Timed dry run | `weekly/week-13.md` | | 14 | Nov 27 | — No class · Thanksgiving | `weekly/week-14.md` | | 15 | Dec 4 | ● Full class — **Be chosen** · finals | `weekly/week-15.md` | | 16 | Dec 11 | — No class · Commencement | `weekly/week-16.md` | ### Assignments `assignments/00-attendance-and-engagement.md` · `01-portfolio-inventory-triage` · `02-portfolio-plan-production-schedule` · `03-platform-live-placement-cadence` · `04-apply-for-graduation` · `05-resume-first-draft` · `06-resume-final` · `07-professional-identity-kit` · `08-website-concept-design` · `09-website-first-draft-content` · `10-website-final` · `11-showcase-piece-plan` · `12-showcase-piece-final` · `13-networking-log` · `14-ninety-day-plan` · `15-final-portfolio-presentation` · `16-community-involvement-extra-credit` ### Reference `reference/glossary.md` — six sections: portfolio & presentation, production & pipeline, job search & hiring, employment & money, web & platform, local & community. `reference/dfw-industry-map.md` — games; animation/motion/VFX; simulation, XR & viz; LBE & brand; orgs and events; how to research a company. **Verify before the semester opens** — studios change, and several entries are small companies. --- ## Notes on how these pages are written **Every weekly page ends with "Due next."** Students in a once-weekly course with one long deadline lose October. The repetition is deliberate. **Every assignment page has a five-line rubric** matching the grade sheet, plus a "common failures" section. The failure lists are the part students actually read. **Deadlines are cross-referenced in three places** — the master schedule, the weekly page, and the assignment page. If you move a date, move all three. A search for the date string will find them. **The Thanksgiving hole is named repeatedly** (Weeks 3, 11, 12, 13, 14). Work students plan to do over break does not happen, and the deliverables on either side of it are the heaviest in the course. **Tone is direct and occasionally blunt** — on sunk cost, on inflated credit, on the market. Adjust to taste; the structure survives a gentler voice.
