# Week 14 — Tuesday, November 24 ### Project 3 First Draft due · Critique · Holiday work planning > **This class meets today.** The Thanksgiving holiday runs Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29 — it does not affect our Tuesday section. --- ## Focus The whole piece exists in rough form. You get the semester's most substantial round of notes, then a holiday week to act on them. --- ## Due today — before 9:00 AM **Project 3 — First Draft (10 points)** - The complete piece at rough standard — every part present - A **written self-critique** naming the three weakest parts - Your plan for the remaining two weeks **Weekly progress report.** --- ## Bring to class - The draft, ready to play or run at full size - Your reference board and gap statement - The self-critique - Everything you have captured for breakdown material --- ## In class **Full critique.** The most substantial notes of the semester. The whole piece is present, so the whole piece gets addressed — structure, execution, and whether it delivers on the gap statement. **Self-critique check.** You named three weak parts. We test whether they are the right three. Accurate self-assessment is a professional skill and this is direct practice at it. **Priority ranking.** You will get more notes than two weeks can absorb. They get ranked. You leave with the two or three that matter most, in writing. **Gap check.** Does this piece, as it stands, actually demonstrate the thing your portfolio was missing? If not, we identify what would change that — usually a specific addition to the breakdown material rather than a change to the piece. **Holiday work planning.** Realistic goals for the break. Individual and specific. **Supervised production.** --- ## Before next week 1. **Address the ranked notes**, top of the list first. 2. **Do not add scope.** Two weeks remain. Anything new discovered now gets discussed before it gets built. 3. **Complete your breakdown captures.** Wireframes, turntables, texture maps, debug views, profiling data — whatever your Week 12 capture plan named. 4. **Begin assembling process documentation** — 8–12 images or clips from concept to current state. 5. **Bring your portfolio** next week. Week 15 includes a full portfolio review. --- ## Note — the holiday week You have a week with no class meeting and no immediate deadline. Two things reliably happen to it. Some students lose it entirely and arrive in Week 15 where they were in Week 14. Others treat it as a full production week and burn out before the final push. The useful version is neither: pick **two specific things** from your ranked notes and finish them. Write them down before you leave today. A week with two completed items beats a week of unfocused effort, and it beats a lost week by a much wider margin. Have a good holiday. Do the two things.
