# Hardware — Deployment Specifications
Hardware installed at venues for **season one (Maria Mitchell)**: one kiosk, one VR room and three street AR anchors. Prices and timing are in [[Hardware — Price List and Acquisition Schedule]].
## 1. Kiosk (Atheneum or MMA)
| Component | Spec | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| **Kiosk PC** | Small-form-factor Windows 11 IoT/Pro, **RTX 5080**, 64 GB, 1 TB NVMe, wired Ethernet | Runs the Cine MetaHuman locally; RTX 5090 only if two characters with strand hair share the screen |
| **Display** | **75 inch 24/7 commercial display**, 4K, 500+ nits, portrait mount (e.g. Samsung QM-series class) | Life-size figure. Upgrade path: 86 inch, LED blade, or holographic cabinet |
| Glasses-free 3D wall display (alternative) | **Looking Glass 86 in Hololuminescent Display**: 4K portrait, about 75 × 42 in image, about 2 ft perceived depth, built-in camera, mic and touch; $20,000 | Life-size for figures up to about 6 ft if floor-mounted. Not a true light field. See [[Hardware — Looking Glass Displays]]. |
| Holographic cabinet (alternative) | **Proto Luma**: 86-inch, AI 4K camera, 6-mic array with echo cancellation | Quote only; Proto lists a Luma extended warranty at $5,500, so expect a unit price well above a flat display. Confirm it accepts our own Unreal output and AI stack. |
| **Microphone** | Beam-forming array with echo cancellation + physical push-to-talk button | Museum noise; captions always on |
| **Presence sensor** | Depth camera or radar presence sensor | Approach mode only; no face storage |
| **Audio out** | Directional speaker(s) + small amp | Keeps sound in the kiosk zone |
| **Enclosure** | Ventilated, lockable, ADA reach ranges, cable management | Custom fabrication; match the historic interior |
| **Network** | Wired Ethernet; LTE/5G failover optional | Offline mode plays authored monologues |
| **Spares** | Hot-spare PC or parts kit | One reboot away from open |
## 2. VR room (Vestal House VR, MMA or Atheneum)
| Component | Spec | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| **Headsets** | **4 × Meta Quest 3 512 GB + 1 spare** | Consumer units (Meta ended business SKUs in Feb 2026); reseller extended warranty |
| Device management | ArborXR or ManageXR kiosk/shared mode | Per-device annual license (quote) |
| Charging / sanitizing | Charging cabinet with UV sanitizing | Between-session hygiene |
| Seating | Swivel chairs, seated experience | Comfort and safety |
| Network | Dedicated Wi-Fi access point / SSID | Live Q&A only on this network |
| Hygiene | Face covers, cleaning supplies | Consumables |
| *Optional* | Vive Focus Vision Business (+ PC for DisplayPort PC-VR) | Only if the venue requires enterprise warranty or tethered hero quality |
## 3. Street AR (Vestal Street yard, Atheneum, Pacific National Bank)
| Component | Spec | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Image-target plaques | Weatherproof, historic-district compliant | Partner and town approval required |
| QR / NFC signage | Launches USDZ (iPhone) / glTF Scene Viewer (Android) or App Clip | No hardware on the street beyond signage |
Visitors use their own phones. No live AI on the street.
## 4. Later seasons (not in season-one budget)
| Venue | Likely hardware |
|---|---|
| Whaling Museum cabin VR (Veeder/Brock), Pequod scene | Second Quest fleet (4 + 1) or shared fleet |
| Whaling Museum Essex after-hours | Two-character kiosk: RTX 5090 PC, 86 inch or LED |
| Atheneum Douglass 1841 | VR hall + kiosk; crowd rendering (MetaHuman Collections) favors a 5090 PC |
| African Meeting House (with MAAH) | Quiet tablet/kiosk; small footprint |
